NURTURING PARENTING

For Case Managers & Referral Professionals

The Nurturing Parenting Program is an evidence-based parenting program recognized in child welfare systems nationwide. This service provides structured, one-on-one Nurturing Parenting support for caregivers. The program is designed to support families involved with DCFS, foster care systems, court oversight, or high-risk stress environments where consistent skill-building and measurable progress are necessary.

Service Focus

  • Strengthening caregiver regulation and consistency

  • Building predictable routines and structure

  • Improving caregiver-child interaction patterns

  • Teaching practical discipline and communication tools

  • Supporting safe and developmentally appropriate expectations

  • Reducing escalation cycles and crisis-driven responses

Sessions emphasize observable skill development and real-world application.

Format

  • Individual sessions with caregiver (and child when appropriate)

  • Structured curriculum adapted to family needs

  • 45–60 minute sessions

  • In-person (telehealth optional if applicable)

  • Flexible scheduling

This format allows for deeper coaching, pacing adjustments, and direct modeling that group settings often cannot provide.

Documentation & coordination

With signed releases, the following may be provided when appropriate:

  • Attendance verification

  • Goal-based progress summaries

  • Treatment plan objectives

  • Case coordination communication

  • Discharge summaries

Documentation is clear, concise, and tied to measurable behavioral goals rather than subjective impressions.

Referral criteria (good fit)

This service is appropriate for:

  • DCFS-involved families

  • Foster, adoptive, or kinship caregivers

  • Caregivers unable to attend group classes

  • High-stress families needing individualized pacing

  • Parents with repeated compliance challenges in group settings

  • Families requiring structured accountability

How to refer

Referrals may be sent by email or phone. After referral:

  1. Caregiver is contacted for intake scheduling

  2. Medicaid eligibility is confirmed

  3. Goals are clarified at initial session

  4. Updates provided per agreed coordination plan

Professional collaboration is welcomed when releases are in place.

For Parents & Caregivers

Parenting is hard — especially when stress is high, routines fall apart, or every day feels like a struggle. This program is not about judgment. It is about learning practical tools that make daily life calmer and more predictable. This is a private, one-on-one parenting support program where we work together to build skills you can use immediately at home.

What parents learn

  • How to respond without escalating

  • How to create routines that actually work

  • How to set limits without constant conflict

  • How to support children who are overwhelmed or reactive

  • How to stay steady during difficult moments

  • How to rebuild cooperation and connection

We focus on small, realistic changes that add up over time.

What sessions are like

  • Sessions are supportive, structured, and practical.

  • You won’t be lectured.

  • You won’t be blamed.

  • You won’t be expected to be perfect.

  • We look at what’s happening in real life and build strategies that fit your family.

  • Some sessions are caregiver-focused. Others may include parent-child practice depending on your goals.

Insurance

I accept all Illinois Medicaid plans.
Coverage is confirmed during scheduling.
