I provide comprehensive play therapy services designed to support the unique needs of children. I specialize in working with young children, autistic children, and children with attachment and trauma issues. As parents, I understand your deep commitment to your child's well-being, and I am here to partner with you on this journey of growth and healing. My play therapy approach is tailored to meet the specific needs of children, helping them navigate challenges, develop resilience, and thrive in their emotional and social lives. Through the power of play, I create a safe and nurturing environment where children can freely express themselves, explore their emotions, and build important life skills.

If your child has been adopted and is facing attachment and trauma issues, our I am here to provide specialized support. I offer a compassionate and understanding space where your child can develop healthy relationships, heal from past experiences, and build a strong sense of self. My play-based interventions are designed to address the unique challenges that adopted children may encounter, promoting emotional well-being and secure attachments. For parents of younger children, I recognize the significance of early intervention in supporting healthy development. My tailored play therapy interventions for toddlers and preschool-aged children focus on fostering social skills, emotional regulation, and self-expression. Through age-appropriate play strategies, I empower your child to navigate their world with confidence and resilience. Additionally, I have expertise in working with children on the autism spectrum. My play therapy sessions are designed to enhance communication, social interaction, sensory integration, and emotional regulation skills. I create an inclusive and supportive environment where your child can thrive and reach their full potential.

What to Expect

Many parents and kids have questions about play therapy and what to expect.  You can click on the link "Commonly Asked Questions Regarding Play Therapy" for additional information.  On the first visit, I met with you, the parent(s).  Sometimes the child is present and other times, her or she is not present.  I will have you complete some intake paperwork at this first appointment (you can either download it from this page-"Informed Consent," "Client Consent to Counseling," and "Face Sheet," or I have copies at my office for you to complete).  We will then meet and discuss what is going on with your child and your concerns---how are things at school, how are things at home, his/her development, etc.  I will give you a questionnaire to complete on your child and have you bring it back the next session.

At the next session, I will give you and your child some activities to do to do in the playroom.  I am not in the room, but video record this session (this gives me some context for your child's play and an idea about you and your child's relationship).  At the third and forth sessions, your child and I will be in the playroom.  We will discuss the results of the questionnaire, the play between you and your child, and my observations of their play at the fifth session.

I will be meeting with your child on a weekly basis for play therapy.  Every 4 to 6 sessions, I will be wanting to meet with you to discuss how things are going for your child and give you updates regarding the play therapy sessions.
